The Shaw Festival is a major not-for-profit theatre festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada. It is the second largest repertory theatre company in North America. Founded in 1962, its original mandate was to stimulate interest in George Bernard Shaw and his period, and to advance the development of theatre arts in Canada. British actor/director born in London, England, in May 28, 1917. He arrived in Canada in 1954. He performed in television and radio before his performances with Stratford Festival in 1965. He had directed in Stratford and across the country before establishing himself with the Shaw Festival until his retirement. He died at Niagara-on-the-Lake December 20, 2004.
